The Loneliness Epidemic Is Real — Here's What Nobody's Doing About It

April 1, 2026

you've probably seen the headlines. "loneliness is an epidemic." "social isolation is as dangerous as smoking 15 cigarettes a day." "gen z is the loneliest generation."

cool. so everyone agrees it's a problem.

now what?

that's the part nobody talks about. we get the stats. we get the think pieces. we get the sad surveys. but nobody's actually building anything to fix it. the apps that exist — bumble bff, meetup, all of them — were designed for dating and then slapped a "friendship mode" on top. swiping on people to be your friend is weird. showing up to a meetup with 40 strangers is intimidating. and the group chat that says "we should hang out soon" hasn't hung out since 2023.

the problem isn't that people don't want friends. everybody wants friends. the problem is that there's no structure for it anymore.

when you were a kid, friendships just happened. you were in the same class, on the same team, in the same neighborhood. there was always a reason to be around each other. as an adult? you have to manufacture that from scratch. and most people don't know how.

that's why i built krewquest.

instead of swiping and hoping, an AI called krew learns what you're into — your interests, your goals, your vibe — and matches you with people who are actually compatible. then krew creates activities for you to do together. side quests. events. real reasons to show up somewhere at the same time as someone who gets you.

the loneliness epidemic doesn't need another article about how bad it is. it needs someone to actually do something about it.

that's what we're doing.
